Once the Lincoln Housing Authority (LHA) approves your unit, you and the landlord will sign a one-year lease. At the same time, the landlord and LHA will sign a housing assistance payments (HAP) contract that runs for the same term as your lease. This means everyone has obligations and responsibilities under the voucher program.

HAP PAYMENTS CANNOT START UNTIL A HAP CONTRACT IS SIGNED.

A HAP CONTRACT CANNOT BE SIGNED UNTIL THE INSPECTION PROCESS IS COMPLETED.

IF YOU SIGN A LEASE AND MOVE INTO A UNIT BEFORE A HAP CONTRACT IS SIGNED, YOU MAY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FULL RENT PORTION FOR THE TERM OF THE LEASE IF A HAP CONTRACT CANNOT BE SIGNED.
