local preferences & waiting lists - how do they Affect me?

Since the demand for housing assistance often exceeds the limited resources available to Lincoln Housing Authority (LHA), long waiting periods are common until vouchers are available to be re-issued.  Click here for more information on waiting lists.

LHA has established local preferences for selecting applicants.  Click here for a description of the preferences.   Families who qualify for these local preferences move ahead of other families on the list who do not qualify for any preference. Families, the elderly (age 62 or older) and the disabled (as defined by Social Security)  are selected from waiting list  before the single non-disabled and non-elderly applicants.
